Untitled Poem by Mwanangwa Zombe

Untitled

Indeed where is fancy bred;
In the heart or in the head?

Let it so like swans take flight

To soar pure and white in sight.
For beauty, my knees have knelt.
For fain smiles, my soul does melt.
For more than beat, my heart felt.

With gazing fed and fancy dies
As my fortune in caskets rides
For desire and oath move by side.

As freshness of morning dew
And beauty of sunsets view
So arise a darkened hue
Though slendour still; desire untrue.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem I wrote when a girl I had grow to love suddenly began to avoid me. We had known each other for at least a year but through all that, I was never sure what I really meant to her thus, the title of the poem, 'Untitled'.
