Untitled Poem by Tuneer Sarkar

Untitled

What do i look for in the dead of the night
Solace, peace, care or maybe just a few words
But the silence, in all the screaming, and oppression
Seems to echo in my laughter
Silence remains my answer when asked
'Why can't i be happier? '

To live one must breath and eat and drink,
One also needs a shelter to live.
But none of it is free
Most may not even have any three
And it becomes a crime
If you want to live.
God forbid, if you wish to know
They put you on the death row.

And then they ask you,
Who gave the right to outgrow?

Maybe this isn't the only world out there
But its the only one i know
No matter how far i run
It catches me by my toe
I trip and fall and fight back
Till i am running away
From all that i know

And then they ask you,
Will nobody cry for you?
