Uphill Battle Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Uphill Battle

Greed, theft and deception.
Has left those abandoned.
Struggling in an uphill battle,
Defending truth.
And what remains of its integrity.

Even those who have joined forces,
To have supported...
With their endorsement to give.
Have lived for decades,
On lies to them fed.
Are fearing they will awaken,
Finding their delusions suffering.
Bleeding from the battle.
And left for dead.

The ones corrupted and deceiving,
Feeding the young folks to believe...
Truth is the enemy.
Faking a reality.
They must dismiss as a treacherous activity.
And will soon diminish the popularity,
Of their fantasized lives...
They have come to enjoy.
Must they fight to keep their birthrights,
Kept entitled.
Without truth inciting,
To remove this from sight.

"Fight for delusion.
Fight for your right,
To remain thoughtless and fantasized."
Are the words heard from the greedy.
Those feasting on corruption.
And exclusively from eyes to hide.

It is an uphill battle.
For truth to keep pursued.
Since to overcome lies to many told,
There are also those defending...
Lives lived to delude.
The only existence,
To know and be shown.
Although...
Periodically suspected.
To be less honest to expect.
And this to accept,
Makes the battle for truth...
A tiresome struggle.
That can take away one's breath.

"Where are the re-enforcements?
The ones who promised,
They would come to provide us aid.
And much needed rest."

-They claim...
These days truth can not be defended.
Too expensive it is.
And besides,
Even if truth wins...
Who decides,
How the benefits of it are divided?
And who ultimately pays the price,
For a lifetime of lieing?
To prove they have evidence of it.-
