Upon The Hill Poem by David Blake

Upon The Hill

Silent footsteps in the dark, buried
deep in a heart filled with sadness
and pain my shadow slowly walks
away. Answering the claims of my
mortal regrets I know too many things
I will never be able to explain.
Lamenting my shame I can’t justify
why I walked away from you in
search of what if.

David, you've tapped into a universal emotion of pain, the what if, that leads away to... nothingness which we realise too late. Wonderful poem. Cheers Anita
