Upside-Down Rabbits Poem by Kelly Zion

Upside-Down Rabbits

In the corner of your ceiling
when you are dreaming
they sleep in the shadows
hanging there like bats
upside-down rabbits.

There's no monster in the closet,
there's no monster under the bed,
only the crud monster lives in the wastebasket
and in the corner of your ceiling
are the upside-down rabbits.

They eat upside-down rabbit feed
when your toes are trying to sleep
'High Pro' keeps them healthy
so they can run around outside
and burrow in the attic
upside-down rabbits.

You wonder why grass never grows on the ceiling?
And you always hear strange noises when you just get to sleeping?
You wonder why the shadows in the corners start moving?
And when the trees rustle in the middle of a storm
you feel something brush by you in the dark
and climb under your blankets?
It's the upside-down rabbits.
