Useless Poem by Shalom Freedman

Useless

I have seen so many
Who did and gave so much
Useless at the end
Lost in the sadness
Of their own not being able
To do or give anything
Useless and sad
Useless and defeated
Useless and depressed
Useless in their wheelchairs
In their endless sittings
And waitings for mealtime
Useless in their inability to lift themselves back
Into the world
Useless sad and lost and pained and depressed
And useless
So many who did so much and who were really something
Useless
