Valentine Poem by martha ikiring

Valentine

In the thickets, shrubs and forest
I wandered endlessly, like a soul
Seeking its resting place in a lost world
Until in a valley, covered with wild lilies

My eyes fell on you
I could have wished for time to stand still
So that I could look at you
And keep the memory of your face forever
And the moment you had turned and smiled at me
I could have sworn my heart missed a beat

You had then led me to a place my heart called home
Where you made me the queen of your heart
And beneath the blue skies you had sworn your love to me
On that day, a day I will never forget
As the seasons go on changing
From summer, winter, spring and autumn
My heart beats for you with the same intensity
Because as days go by
I pray for that day and wait for you

Like a lonely vigil on a sunny day
I wait for you to come to me
For you and only you are the one person
That I wish to see and be with
Especially on this Valentine ’s Day
