Vampire Poem by sarah orchard

Vampire

These long dead bones from daylight resting
Night will breathe their evil life
Pact completed, life eternal
Shall evermore in death be mine

Crooked candles light the pathway
To my home above my grave
Dust and shadow mark my parting
From deathlike sleep to deathlike wake

Winds howl round my humble dwelling
Ancient eyes hold no surprise
The death I feared, a distant memory
But this existence, I despise

I take from those who will not give me
I drain from those who will not yield
I trample over love and kindness
I will not shield what can't be mine

I dream of peaceful tranquil waters
I dream of love and warmth and care
I wake into my world of darkness
Knowing only I am there

The fear of death that so long gripped me
The saviour that cant set me free
My life has cause and pain and purpose
My punishment for cheating God

I wander over to the window
My mouth curls up and tastes the air
blood is calling, wild and distant
the wind will take me to my meal

My teeth bear down, the man is screaming
I relish in his deathly moans
I send him off to where I long for
A moments pain, and then it's done
