Vanity And Ego Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Vanity And Ego

Everybody's looking,
For that someone to come.
To help them undo,
What themselves to have done.

Everybody's looking,
For that exit to find.
From a grief that has been caused,
By not using their minds.

But vanity and ego is like concrete.
Cemented deep.
And encased in thick steel.
A vanity and ego is like concrete.
Buried feet deep.
And...
Encased in thick steel.

Nothing can be said to people,
Who refuse to hear...
Something they should learn,
Made simple and clear.
Nothing can be said to people,
Who refuse to hear...
Anything to learn,
No matter how basic it is.

Everybody's looking,
For that someone to come.
To help them undo,
What themselves to have done.

Everybody's looking,
For that exit to find.
From a grief that has been caused,
By not using their minds, everyday.
Yet...
Protect their ignorance.
Kept obeyed.
Yet...
Will protect their ignorance,
To obey.
