Victimizing Themselves Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Victimizing Themselves

Decisions to choose,
Self interests to first serve.
Due and done to perceive,
The doing of this represents...
A prosperity achieved.
While leaving those hungry,
Impoverished.
And left to believe,
They too can receive equality.
Although made known,
Are disparities and deception shown.
Ultimately returns,
To those who accept...
Accusations made to place judgements,
On others to pass.
As unmotivated and lazy,
Ungrateful beggars.
Using skin color.
And tragic events forgettable to last.
While those given freedoms,
To do whatever they choose and please...
Historically.
Continue to compare their experiences.
Although consciously unaware,
From where their prosperity comes.
Or the ones who sacrificed their lives,
Supplying their enjoyed quality of life.
Victimizing themselves.
With beliefs resources they keep within reach,
Had been stolen to claim them theirs.
But those days will come,
When many will awaken to experience regret.
And those they choose,
To look down upon from held high noses.
Will not be the ones,
Feeling remorse or guilt to overcome.
Since truth has a way of producing realty!
And facts to reveal,
Takes time to heal...
Minds refusing lives lived to delude.
