This is revelation.
The earth reveals its secret: it's not solid, eternal, dark, secure, our support;
The surface cracks a little, the veil is drawn aside, a truth is exposed.
Underneath is fire, power, force, destruction.
Our mother shows herself:
Not just woods and green fields, valleys and mountains, deserts and rich harvests;
Not just nurturing, giving, caring;
Not just belonging to us.
She has her own agenda, she has her own purposes, she is her own self.
We don't know her at all.
We cannot control this, we cannot use this, we must just stand amazed.
And know it is time to grow up.
