Vowel-Order Hypothesis

Arabic 'jinni' is singular; 'jinn' is plural.
The second 'i' in 'jinni' is long.

Jann being the least powerful jinn,
it follows that jenn are between the two;
that jonn are stronger spirits still than jinn;
and that junn are the strongest ones.

A janni is the least powerful jinni,
a jenni's power lies between the two;
a jonni is a jinni of stronger will;
a junni's is stronger still.
