Waiting For The Paycheck Poem by Daniel Norton Smith

Waiting For The Paycheck

Waiting for the paycheck,
the post it never comes.
Waiting for the paycheck,
I'll have to do some sums.

Should I borrow more?
or simply go without?
If you see me on the street,
do give me a shout.

Waiting for the paycheck,
it's agony without.
Waiting for the paycheck;
it's social norms I flout.

I'll be wearing a silly hat
and dancing in a bar.
That cotton-pickin' paycheck,
sure doesn't go far.
