War Poem by Akhil Shah

War

Rating: 3.5

Will the hatred ever run out of steam,
and there be a day when it end
Am I hoping for a dream within a dream,
how much more humanity to bend?

From the oldest tales,
to the newest breeds sown
While we stood weeping at the grave,
the seeds of war had grown

Guns as their favorite toy,
In every bullet they took pride
Bombed all our temples of joy,
not spared even the newly wed bride

While the poor toddler cries for food,
his mother is mourning his soul
Power houses as we self brood,
Yet in love, a seeping hole

At the age of a child,
you burn his palm grey
Tomorrow he too will become wild,
and you will be his prey

The sky is filled with ashes,
black clouds have found their way
You are the enemy of peace,
him god had kept things at bay

Long have they suffered,
under your promises to keep
Their voice rendered muttered,
yet you haven't stopped digging deep

Enough of the Gaza coup,
let the Israelis learn to live
Their troop will stumble and fall,
if not the mistakes you can forgive

Let the Africans strive to earn,
don't shadow them as ape
Ensue you will from them,
In a jungle when you escape

Can't the matter be resolve,
for Kashmir we have gone too far
Only love will the poison dissolve,
let's seal with blood no more war

No more bodies floating in Bosnia,
let there never be another red sea
If terror in the U.S you can't curtail,
don't stop the beard man walking free

We are not the architect of human,
but the massive monsters from hell
Denying the sins of blood on our hand,
but in each of us the wicked side dwell

With every word I strike,
for this world to embark
My people will survive,
whence you replace light against dark.
