Wash Over Me. Poem by Jessica Amburgey

Wash Over Me.

Let it rain, let it fall down on me.
Let it wipe away the trace of your memory.
So the wet sets in, just to grace my skin.
To wash away the remnants of an unknown sin.

I can hear it pound as it rushes down.
As my knees break the ground.
Wash over me, flood this memory.

With every drop I can taste you.
With every tear I can see you.
Cold wet arms that should have never held you.

My secret sin,
I drink you in.

Pour down on me, wash over me.
Set me Free of this misery.

Let me bathe in your waters.
Let me cry your lonely years.
Let me wipe away the pain
Of so many years.

As the rain holds my hand,
Forgetting where I stand.
To catch the moment when
It hits the sand.

Wash over me, just let me be.
Let me enjoy that sinful memory.

Let me touch your face,
Let me just hold a trace.

Wash over me,
Don't set me free...
