Wasted Tears Poem by Lora Colon

Wasted Tears

Rating: 5.0

Is it by Divine grace few pass through life
Eluding pain, with scarce a trace of strife?
While others are slaughtered by Fate's sharp knife,
How the tears fall as misery runs rife!

When the tattered flags of war are unfurled,
With every bullet and bomb that is hurled,
When on battlefields, blood and soil are swirled,
I cry for the wickedness in this world

I cry for the pain of each living thing:
The warbler that struggles, but cannot sing;
A queen's bittersweet reign without her king;
And yet, what comfort do wasted tears bring?

I feel the woes of each abandoned heart,
As daggers of loneliness sting and smart;
Watching Destiny play its doleful part,
I cry that Fate chose to map such a chart

Absent the love that life chose to deny,
We're condemned to sorrow, my heart and I;
Though vague desires stir when the night is nigh,
No love do we find, and O, how we cry!

Wasted tears, why do you fall from my eyes?
Don't try to claim comfort as your disguise;
Just searing pain upon my doorstep lies,
Pain and wasted tears.... in endless supplies

Your 'Wasted Tears' is a masterpiece I would say, and certainly one of the best of your poems that I've read.The poignant, forlorn tone of the poem has deeply touched me. Every stanza of the poem is shrouded with sadness, has a story to tell. Eloquent conversion of personal pain into beautiful poetry! Very, very well written, simply amazing!

Wasted tears, a cry from the heart, A plaintive plea, from one who’s apart from The wicked and woeful, the vicious and vile, Corrosive chameleons with the counterfeit smiles. A well written piece, Lora. I judge this poem to be an expression of personal thoughts and feelings. It's the sort of poem that I'd be proud to have written.
