I am floating
on this coating of misunderstanding
I am worried
I am hurried, you are so demanding

nothing can replace
the feelings that have been erased
by something as simple as a year
it is difficult to choose
what you would rather lose
your reputation, or the fact that I am standing here

and I can't mess this up
I'm in love and I am stuck
waiting for a place to sign my name
on the walls or in your skin
on the outside or within
where will I find you?

now my lungs don't seem to work
when I try to breathe, it hurts
you tell me that water and air are just the same

we are walking
and I am talking, but you can't hear
the one thing you
just don't seem to understand is fear

although I have tried to explain
and I thought I made it plain that these problems can't go on
you only turn away
and force yourself to say that it hasn't been that long

and even though I have my doubts

the city lights start coming on
as I'm drifting into the sea
but suddenly I realize
that this won't distance you from me
