greatest on east still asleep
with garmin i'm moving west
through those soybeans field
houses no higher than dogwoods
big dog raised her head, no chase
shook her body went back to sleep
river so calm following road
no crab boat nor oyster dingy
plying shallows; just ripples
from gentle wind blows; rattles
track of land with pickett fence
rolling hills and ancient barns
pine trees pushing seaside breeze
by water tower; bluing cloudy days
i park overlooking bridge to sunrise
misting river waiting for company
even a dropp of rain that could be
enough to break deafening harmony
