After a short break in Wayanad, Kerala, India, I wish to share my thoughts on this fabulous place with all my dear fellow poets.
Captivating verdant vistas,
white dotted coffee shrubs,
betel palms standing majestically
adding glamour to Mother Nature.
Whispering lofty coconut palms,
clusters of banana plantations,
dense green jackfruit trees
swaying in the gentle breeze.
While the thick fog hides treetops,
the Sun appears over the eastern horizon
gently dissolving the morning mist
to unravel the jewlels of Mother Nature.
Sweet symphony of little birds
resonating over the nearby hills.
Lively waterfalls cascading
down the purple hills.
Silence reigns absolutely -
punctuated by the sweet call of the peacock
or the chorus rendered by
myriads of cicadas.
Dense tropical forests
untouched by civilization -
truly a bounty of Nature or
blessings sent from the Heavens above?
Perfect tranquillity
away from the din of the city.
Oxygen-enriched air scented mildly
with the fragrance of eucalyptus and wintergreen.
The tea slopes – a green carpet,
climbing peppervines,
clove, allspice and avocado trees
embellishing the place so beautifully.
Winding roads,
lovely sunrises,
lovelier sunsets
and the night sky clearly lit with a million stars.
I hope and pray
Wayanad stays the same
even after many a decade
should I ever go there again.
