We Are Poem by amber hayes

We Are

what i am and what i do
i get tired of being judged like you
when people see me they just see u
they dont see the real view

we are african american teens
which we cant change
but that dont mean we cant break the chains
others see us as murders, killers, gangsters and more

but we are not that we are so much more
we are better than the rest and never takes anything less
sometimes we make mistakes
but we are humans not liars or snakes

look at us with my eyes
not with the ones that tell you lies
you see black children that will steal in a minute
i see strong black children trying to make a living.
