We Are All Birds Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

We Are All Birds

Rating: 5.0

we all started in a nest
next to the ones we first hatched with
we grew from eggs to birds.

all birds fly away.
some of us come back,
but not all of us remember where the nest is.

we try so hard to make our way,
looking for a place we belong,
but we take so long struggling
that we forget where it was we came from.
soon we forget the nest where
we first hatched.

we are all birds, darling...
but some of us have broken wings,
and some of us forget how to sing.

I like this little poem with its sad ending.
