the song that once was in my heart
is today gone
its flowers placed in rare array
upon my best friend's grave

I tried to remember moments
we shared along the way—
sure, the good times outweighed our tears
we were the perfect pair
So I hear people say

sometimes, one of us would start a sentence
and the other will finish it
our thinking was together
we knew each other’s voice

now my best friend is gone
yet, not gone in my heart

someday, maybe, I'll end that sentence too
for tomorrow comes real often
and your work on earth is through
and meeting each other
we’ll remember the good old days
