Weep As They Dance Poem by John Doiron

Weep As They Dance

A freezing rain befalls the town
I slip outside in my long, black gown
To wander alone and look to my friends
Who dance and fall and drown to cleanse
All so fun, all so free
All of their arms fly up in glee
Yet when I think to join, I turn my eyes
For I know my soul would face demise
It wasn't meant for me to be
A diver in the drunken sea
All there is out here for me
Is a meadow with a single tree
Who I sit beside and gently croon
The lullaby of the sun and moon
And face the only true contentment
That this mind dwells in dark resentment
So when I creep among the night
I weep aloud caught in this plight
When I see my friends in pure delight
And my heart fades from out of sight
