Well, Obviously I Struck A Nerve

Rating: 5.0

The poem “Where Is The Courtesy? ” struck a nerve,
Probably because I threw a fastball instead of a curve,
Well, seeing as how may people agree it is truly wrong,
Then tell me just why in the heck is it taking this long?

Since it takes a village to successfully raise a child,
Is the village inadequate when they’re running wild?
So, where is the mayor, tribal chief, who is the boss?
Responsibility for our victory is the same for our loss.

Every time this child acts ugly step #1 is to be yanked,
From this moment till it’s stopped #2 she is to be spanked,
It’s not harsh treatment because the kid is not being beat,
Punishment can’t be so severe others will call the police.

Parents are afraid of their kids due to a lack of respect,
It’s their fault because they allowed too much neglect,
Not treating your offspring as such but more like friends,
Is where this behavior starts & if not stopped it won’t end.

They simply don’t have the mental capacity to comprehend,
How can I be scolded by the person who is my best friend?
The Temptations would say, “no one is bigger than the group, ”
Meaning, any one to disrupt the continuity, see ya, ally-oop.

A child and that is someone yet to reached the age of a teen,
Has to know the difference between instruction & being mean,
And, any parent who has a problem with understanding why,
The pastor, deacons and praise team needs to pull them aside.

This is not the military there so, is no real chain of command,
However, to be a true house of God we must follow His plan,
Never in any Bible, Torah or Koran do children run the show,
It’s the job of the congregation to let both parents & kids know.

Sad to sit back and think, “I knew that family way back when, ”
The time to put them on the straight & narrow is now not then,
Even when the road becomes slippery they will never swerve,
As you’ll smile and say, “Well, Obviously I Struck A Nerve.”
