What a Life
I have the world's best occupation
Being a farmer's wife,
We till the soil together
In most any kind of weather;
Plant and reap, for worse or better,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being an ambitiousman's wife.
Beast and worms and birds of feather,
Calves to feed and eggs to gather,
Chores to do in spite of weather
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a dairyman's wife,
They walk the lane together,
Holstein cow and man of leather,
Close companionship forever,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a jockeyman's wife.
We ride the road together,
Seeking bargains that are better,
Wheel and deal or seek a favor,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a carpenter's wife.
He can take a piece of lumber,
Take a saw and cut asunder,
Turn out beauties by the number,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a miller's wife.
He is running competition,
Grinding feed with intuition,
Stuff he bought in fine condition,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a machinist's wife.
He can take a piece of metal,
Torch it, bend it like a petal,
Till it meets with his approval,
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a plumber's wife.
He can soulder pipes together,
And install a water heater,
Perfect job! A leak? No never!
Oh! What a life!
I have the world's best occupation
Being a family man's wife.
He can tussle, toss and shackle,
To their squeals, delight and cackle,
Doze...while four pounce him in tackle,
Oh! What a life!
