What Becomes Of Truth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

What Becomes Of Truth

If truth has never been known.
Or shown the difference,
Between lies produced to then deny.
And the negative effects,
Deception has to leave this left...
On the people believing,
What they've been told to accept.
Without suspecting to expect anything else.
What do 'you' think then becomes of truth?

"Hmmm...
Good question.
Well...
I would think that depends on perception."

Perception?
Perception of what?

"Who learns to deceive.
And taught to believe this a benefit.
Especially when obtaining money.
And the status of having money returns."

Money money money money money!
Money ain't 'everything'!

"You and I may agree poverty is envied.
However...
Anyone under employed, homeless and hungry,
Seem less these days to express...
The joy and merriment they get from it.
Knowing this to be,
A truth they would not have to live."

Again...
It's perception.
Those unknown to truth.
To know only lies to tell and produce.
Could care less what truth is.
If it has not to them been introduced.
Since all of their lives,
They have been shown to make it known...
Those who demand truth to them told,
Seem to have less money in their pockets...
To prove 'their' truth,
Has made a difference to prevent...
A stopping of it that empties,
Pockets, wallets or debts owed to pay.
And besides...
Healthy people will stay healthy.
And those who are wealthy and wise,
Remain that way.

"What has any of that have to do with truth? "

Whomever it is,
In a position to manipulate perceptions.
And truth for many is a perception.
Enabling them to create their own facts.
And today?
Who is it not to know someone like that?
