What Does C-- Have Against Me? Poem by Carl Toothman

What Does C-- Have Against Me?

What does C-- have against me?
My first love is photography

But he doesn’t seem to approve
I talk too much, and yes that’s true.

There’s more to life than taking pics
running round and chasing chics.

He should be glad for what I do
adding a bit of life for you…

….with all your curiosity
on how an artist thinks and feels,

hungry for knowledge about life
including all which creates strife.

Should I just sit back in comfort
and take no part to heal what hurts?

Since it wasn’t my intention
of grabbing all this attention

which upsets the likes of C--
who apparently feels as host

I should ask him for permission
in continuing my mission.

I’m not the first to fight windmills,
and you won’t see me popping pills

which would only drive me insane
just adding more to all my pain

We know how reality bites
should we turn our heads from the plight?

Wouldn’t it be so much better
to just let me get together

mutually feeling minds and hearts
all in the name of photo-art?
