What Does It Matter!

What does it matter if sunshine fails,
And my sky's not always blue;
What does it matter.... I'm not upset
If I know I belong to you

What does it matter if every path
I take is not strewn with flowers;
What does it matter, as long as you
Are near to calm my anxious hours

What does it matter if birds don't sing
To awaken me each day;
What does it matter..... I think of you
And all my problems fade away

What does it matter if now and then
A tear has to dampen my eye;
What does it matter..... if you love me
I'll bear whatever makes me cry

What does it matter if crashing waves
Destroy dreams, leaving but a few;
What does it matter..... tell me again
That I'll always belong to you!

    another great write. i'll add you to MyPoetLIst. i wish some woman/women had written this for me! of course then i would be self-conscious if i had to let her/them go. i might even like it if a man wrote this for me....as a friend OF COURSE! :) bri thanks for sharing.
    p.s. i usually don't go for love poems, but i'll make an exception in this case. (Report) Reply

    I really liked your poem, lora....
    Love is not always hearts and flowers, one should be ready to face its breath takingbeauty and its woeful worries....
    Only then can it have some meaning..... (Report) Reply

    I really like this one lora it's raw. Kinda like saying what does it matter? It doesn't matter cause that's how life is sometimes now suck it up and roll with it cause it's not always gonna be sunshine and rainbows. but as long as we have each other that's all that matters. (Report) Reply

    Belonging to someone is the essential matter. Lovely, soul bearing beauty in this one Lora. (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Helen Hunt Jackson

The month of carnival of all the year,
When Nature lets the wild earth go its way,
And spend whole seasons on a single day.
The spring-time holds her white and purple dear;
