What I Want With My Poetry Poem by Nur Meiyati

What I Want With My Poetry

I always say that I don't even know if what I write can be called a poetry
And I don't much care about it although I am willing to learn diligently
I just want to communicate what I feel and what I think effectively

First I want people to take a glimpse at the title and attempted to read my poetry
Then I want my readers to read my poetry without a feeling to sacrifice badly
Not like some students at school who do not like poetry
But they must do it because they are obliged to learn
Forced to find the beauty of the sophisticated poetry according to the provided definition
I want them to read because they are allured to read with their enduring attention

Even when my poetry is not rhymed or not like what is defined
I want every single word of my poem convey a meaning without ambiguity
And I will not sacrifice it for the shake of rhyme
I use simple words not without my intention

I do not want to speak to myself, not like a princess in the ivory garden
Being admired by her fans for her fame and beauty but unreachable and untouchable
I want to communicate with them
I want my words to be catchy so they will be more understandable
And hopefully the simplicity of my words can make them retain in their mind

But most of all I want my readers to feel the content and the spirit my poetry inside
To catch it whether it is a declaration, a question to challenge them to think
Or a positive threat to abhor any wicked intention, or simply an expression of a feeling
That is how I want with my poetry but I am still learning
