What Is In A Number Poem by Aron Lelei

What Is In A Number

A number, yes I say a number.
What is hidden in you that we cannot remove?
I say today as I always say
There is something valuable in a number
A number, what is in you?

I take four and it tells me of my date
A date Inscribed in my heart and soul
I take six and it counts in doubles
It gives me a month and adds another to make years
A number, what is hidden in you?

Next I take an eight and it pretends to smile
It finally says it cannot abide alone but must be two
What is your companion I say
It reminds me that six cannot abide alone
A number, what is inside you?
