What Kind Of Love Doesn't Go Away? Poem by Chuy Amante

What Kind Of Love Doesn't Go Away?

It's a solvable conundrum
and the solution
should be poetic

Love,
whose love
where, when, how,
how often, extra sugar?

Love
pain, sorrow, loss,
abandonment, cessation,
hot and cold, coming
and going,
lamentation

Is it the same creature?

does Love Abiding exist?

what is it tied too?

does it ever enter
the harbor of death
or complacency?

Is it the entire
background,
or foreground
or does it go
beyond the two?

Is it without spikes
and seizures
or gas bubbles
but with
occasional sneezieures?

'in soothe I know not
why I am so sad...
It worries me,
you say it worries you?
But how I caught it,
found it or came by it,
what stuff is it made of,
whereof it is born?
I am to learn...'
(roughly W.S.)

leave your
sparkly palace of
chemical romance
and pink curtains,
leave your office
and adding machine
and charts and plans...

search for a zone
where pleasance
never leaves,
no personality
attached,
no rule book, no
further maps,
follow your
opportunities to love.
The outward flow
will bring the tides
back to you, undulating
as reliable as the sea
~of real love I speak

where do I give it?

where is it needed?

where am I?

Do I bathe in love,
do I sing it,
do I breathe it,
do I show it in my
smile and hug?
do the neighbors
know I'm infected
with it?

the love you receive
exceeds the love you give
after you cast out
your jewels everywhere!
