The shadow of lust
Creeps behind the city's sidewalks
The lonely nights and long conversations
I hope to God they keep you warm enough
Watch as the rain now tumbles
Try not to slip even though you stumble
Upon the idea that we're not quite alone
There's a man sitting in a small corner,
Wondering who those two thieves are
And where they might go
Blame these castles of doubt
Burning flags find their way to the ground
The broken dreams and sour aspirations
In whatever way they must be surely found
Watch as the bubble now bursts
Try not to give up even if at your worst
Listen to the voices of our poetic escape
You do realise at this moment of disorder
It's the thieves whom we're stealing from
Today
I guess it's the human condition
To end up talking about the strangest arguments
Underestimate time's healing abilities,
But never underestimate its rapid conscious
And the times, they're a-changing
And the people, growing even more terrified
Not of war, not of disease nor of hunger
But what will soon be known as art
