What Would You Do Poem by Tressa Carliss

What Would You Do

We have heard it time and time again
'That would never be me'
'I would never let that happen'
'I would never be that person'
But how do you truly know what you would do.

Females: It's midnight you are closing the store. You turn the lights off and lock the doors.
You walk to you car thinking of the nights sleep that lies ahead.
You feel a strange presence, you turn around, nothing is there.
Must be your imganation. You continue to walk. Before you know it Your mouth is covered, a knife to your neck. He makes you lie down where you stand. Says 'If you scream I will cut your throat.' He begins to smell your hair lick your skin and all you can do is let him. You beg him to stop but he doesn't. He takes your pants off and stands up. You thnk he is done. That he only wanted to scare you but you see him pull his pants down. He rips your underware off and smiles. You began to whimper and try to stop him but he reminds you of the knife. He forces his self in and you can only wait until he is done.

What would you do? Will this ever happen to you?
Can you honestly say this person will never be me?

Males: You and your girl are walking home from a game. You have your arm around her. For once you are with someone who loves you just as much as you love her. A gang of 20 guys come out of no were and jumps you. They beat you till you can barely stand. She tries to help and is thrown to the ground. You asked them not to hurt her and then they get a horrific idea. Two guys hold you to watch. One pins her down. The other seventeen begin to rip her clothes off and take their turn at your virgin girlfriend. She told you she was waiting until marriage. And you had just proposed. And now all you can do is watch while they take turns and she begs for them to stop and for your help. One then pulls a gun out. And puts it to her head. You beg for her life so they let you go. They tell you that you have to do what they just did if you want the two of you to live.

What would you do? Will this happen to you?
Would you ever be that person?

You will never know until you are in that position.
