Whatever Form It Comes In Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Whatever Form It Comes In

Love is a beautiful thing
whatever form it comes in
Love is a feeling in your heart
That makes you smile
and makes it hard to part
and when you do you shed a tear
for the memory of when love was felt
and when love was near

But if we have no love
and we pray to God above
to tend to our lonliness and fear
and the longing for the dream
that comes and goes
but isn't really here
but felt in my heart clear

In absence of love I can feel
Upon my knees I kneel
and pray for strength to carry on
for now, just getting along
not following the throng
knowing, nowhere do I belong
so for others let me be strong

That upon a weary heart
someone may find a start
from the sadness that they hide
and struggle to confide
while others take them for a ride
and break their hopes and pride
until their hearts tear open wide

I know my own time will come
for happiness and smiles
and when the day arrives
I'll drink it slowly in
even as lights of life grow dim
for the times lost I could never win
Kindness is not a sin
and true love should last for miles

And when we walk together
I imagine we'll know
that love will last forever
though the rain and snow
until the day we must part
and no be able to let go
Until again in Heaven we meet
As I pray that it is so

Somehow this morning I cry
and I don't know why
But I have reason to smile
a reminder of why I try
