Whats Color Poem by Sterling Pulliam23

Whats Color

Rating: 4.5

If i was a picture
I'll be lost with in the strokes
of its paint
Locked with in the frame
as if i was encaged
With in the walls of a prison
drowning with in the memories
of who i once was

With no melody
I can no longer dance
To the beat of my heart
or feel the sand
that once held
The foot prints of my soul

Each day that I've awakend
Seems as if it's a re-run
of yesturdays tears
As I look upon the world
That once welcomed me
as one of it's own

Waterfalls of color
Is what I use to see
But for some stange reason
Color has been taken from me
Black and white
Is now what surrounds me
Taken me from the light
That once use to guide me

And yet I stand here before you
for all to see
And for all to imagine
if they can reconize me
But to all that come
No one can speak
Because to all of them
Im just a nigger
from the streets
A picture with no color
Black is now all they see

A running portrait
Of what once was me
A man with in a frame
That is no longer free....
