When Darkness Is Your Friend Poem by Hannah Diane Williams

When Darkness Is Your Friend

Sitting in the corner
Holding her knees,
Wondering why she's so afraid.
The darkness seems to be her only friend.
What happened to her
She could never tell.

She's screaming so loud,
Yet no one hears her.
Her little heart's been trampled on..
She can't take anymore,
So she watches her tears
Fall down her cheeks
And onto the floor.

Walking in the hallway,
Feeling overwhelmed,
Hiding beneath the fake smile,
Thinking the only way out
Is through self-inflicted pain.
She steps into the stall,
Last trip she'll ever make.
She watches as the pain flows
From Inside her heart
Onto the floor.

They find her dead three hours later,
No one knew she'd felt so alone.
Now, the halls fill with tears
Because a fatal mistake can't be undone.
