When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Child Poem by Pen Anthony

When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Child

I was a little boy
I learnt the little thing
That went over the trees and clouds
Was an aeroplane and it was not so little
I saw it on the ground it was way bigger
Than our house

I learnt the name
Practiced the spelling
It was PILOT
I wanted to fly an aeroplane
That's what i wanted to be when i grow up.

I did grow up
I'm not a pilot though
Growing up isn't as fun
Adulthood is tea without sugar
It's not that bad if it's got more milk than water

In the aspects that make us human
Children rank higher than us
In their innocence
Children love for real
They don't judge
They don't discriminate
They truly care

If only the aforementioned
We took with us to adulthood
What a happier world we would have
A child will play even if they are naked
While some of us can't afford to be seen without makeup

If all the leaders were children
We would have world peace
Disputes would be settled with sweets
We would all be happy
Happiness in my younger years
was sweeter than it is now
For i never worried about how long it would last.
