When She First Awakes Poem by Randy McClave

When She First Awakes

I wanna see her before her first coffee cup
I wanna see her before putting on her make up,
And I wanna see her before she puts any lipstick on
And I wanna see her before her eyelashes are drawn.
I wanna see her before she puts on any blush
And of course I wanna she her before she grabs a hairbrush,
And I wanna see her before in the mirror she does stare
I wanna see her before she does her hair.
I wanna she her before she does her nails
And I wanna see her before she jumps on the scales,
I wanna see her right after she wakes up and yawns
And I wanna see her before she puts on her skirt and nylons.
I wanna she her before her morning stretches
And I wanna see her before her jewelry she fetches,
I wanna see her before she puts on any perfume
And I wanna see her before she begins to bloom.
I wanna see her with the morning sunlight on her face
And I wanna see her in her truest grace,
I even wanna see her with any pains or aches
I just wanna see her, when she first awakes.
