When Truth Offends Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

When Truth Offends

When truth offends,
Anyone fearing to hear it.
Be near it.
And feel it a must to protect,
Their insecurities.
Affected are those,
Who are told lies to believe.
By the ones who sell them with ease.
That brings deception to accept,
To infest their relatives, friends...
Neighbors and others in their communities.
When truth to hear it begins,
To offend them as well.
Not to know they protect,
Lives they have lived based upon lies!
