When We First Met Poem by Laura Rodriguez

When We First Met

Rating: 5.0

When we first set eyes on each other,
I could hear my heart beat fast.
Our eyes were locked for several moments.
Our breath was jagged.
My head felt like a cloud.
My knees couldn’t hold me for long,
so I dropped to the ground
and you seized me before I hit the ground.
I could feel your heart beat faster than mine
when our bodies were against each other.
You held me close as you leaned in and kissed my lips.
Oh your kiss.
What a kiss it was!
Though when we parted,
my lips still tingled from where you kissed me.
You lifted me up;
our gazes never broke.
But when your hand was released from my waist,
I felt like dying.
We both went our different ways,
and I never saw you that day.
Another day passed and my heart started to beat fast,
my head felt like a cloud,
my knees couldn’t hold me anymore…
and that’s when I knew you were behind me.
I turned around,
When you took me in your arms, I felt like myself again.
Never again shall we part,
you said.
You took my hand,
and sent me straight off to heaven.
