When You Don't Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

When You Don't

You want a forgiveness,
To get it, but...
How?
When you don't,
Have it to give.
And when you don't,
Feel it in your heart to know...
What a giving of forgiveness is.

You want,
A getting of respect, but...
From who or where.
When you don't,
Have respect to give to anybody else.

And...
Show there's nothing inside you to care.

You want to be treated like a diva.
And...
You want to be treated like a queen.
And...
You want everybody to acknowledge,
Whenever you appear on the scene.
And...
You act like you're the only one born,
To represent the perfect human being.

You have got,
A lot of not...
What should be there up in your head.

You have got,
A lot of not...
What should be there up in your head.
When you don't!

You want,
A getting of respect, but...
From who or where?
And...
Everywhere you go you show to people,
You couldn't care they are there.

You want to be treated like a diva.
And...
You want to be treated like a queen.
And...
You want everybody to acknowledge,
Whenever you appear on the scene.

You want a forgiveness,
To get it, but...
How?
When you don't,
Have it to give.
And when you don't,
Feel it in your heart to know...
What a giving of forgiveness is.
