When You'Ve Lost A Loved One Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

When You'Ve Lost A Loved One

When you've lost a loved one
it burns like the sun
your heart breaks and becomes undone
you try to but from sadness you can't run

You try to go on
and then in a moment
it hits you so hard
and you can't find the words to comment

The beautiful one you loved
has vanished like a broken crystal
that you once cherished
now you feel you're heart was shot with a pistol

You want to die
rather than go on alone
no more messages left for you
or calls on the phone

and the hardest part
is that no matter how much you wish
they're not coming back
and it feels like your heart is under attack

You cry you cry and cry
as inside you die and bleed
and as much as you try
nothing can fill your need

But if you open your heart
and think beyond your own pain
you'll see soon that love wasn't in vain
In time you'll get back into life again

This person you loved
didn't just disappear
they were taken back by God
because they were needed there more than here

And someday if we live our lives good
We may be able to enjoy the same Heavenly fate
To be kind to others
and make good use of our time here while we wait

There are things in life
Too much to handle
So its best to learn how to pray
and to light a candle

God never gives us more
than our hearts can bear
all we need to do is pray to him
and he will listen and be there

I know it sounds crazy
but there are some things that cannot be understood
we have to give them up
for our own good

I promise you
God will send you some sign
that your heart will surly understand
and then you'll know he's at hand

So for now
have this happy thought
remember the good times
and be open to all the lessons taught

You've learned so much about life
through this strife
And though you can't see now
you have so many happy times ahead

So rest your head on the pillow
and sleep in peaceful sleep
your loved one wouldn't want you to weep
They know that you loved them
and safe they wish you keep
