Where This Morning I Am Thinking Of You Poem by Gert Strydom

Where This Morning I Am Thinking Of You

(for Annelize)

Outside the speckled white, black and yellow barbet calls,
the yellow weavers gambol the day yellow and sunny,
as if this morning God has got only beautiful plans,
where this morning I am thinking of you,
the redbreast sings as if it wants to bring some more rain,
where no leaves fall to tell about autumn.
Of your heart I have more than intuition,
even if my life looks like a game of destiny.
This morning tells that winter is not far,
the open blue sky as if it holds secrets,
where so terribly I miss you in my life,
want to trust you with the things that matter,
where COVID is present and a war rages,
you are in my heart, spirit, soul and blood.
