Where Words Fail Poem by Amanda May Moore

Where Words Fail

Often there are words that don’t come out
Words that are never heard, only thought.
Act on these thoughts, show what you cannot say.

Love is shown with a smile or a hello.
It is fun to shout out that you love someone
But it is also expressed in other forms.

A hug can express love for a friend,
A friend that is not often seen or
A friend that is one that will never leave your side.

A kiss… is another form of expressing
That four letter word. This is the most confusing.
Was the kiss meant to be for all to know? A kiss
Is a love that can either be seen and expressed to all
Or just between you and the love. Either way…
Perhaps it is better just to receive a hug.

Love is a tricky matter, it is one thing that every soul desires.
So why is it so hard to find? The age old question.
Because where our words do fail to fall off our lips,
We are left to interpretations of what was meant… by things like a kiss.

Fumble, stumble, and tumble over the interpretations
Creating heaps and heaps of heartache.
So… perhaps… if it is hard to be expressed in words…
Wouldn't saying “I love you” would be the easiest thing to do?

So where words fail
We begin a new tale.

A hopeful new light begins to shine in our lives
A light that seems so pleasant and loving.
A new opportunity to express what it is your
Soul desires to share with another.

That love is easy to say today in a hello
Or a simple, “how’d you do? ”
There is not anything large that needs to be done,
Simple small kind acts of love are what start the flame.

So you begin to…
Fumble, stumble, and tumble over the interpretations
Creating heaps and heaps of heartache.
So… perhaps… as before… a simple
“I love you” would be the best to do.

So where words fail
We continue our tale.

We begin to grow more comfortable with expressing love
With age we become more aware of what to say
So that is how we come to the next stage in the tale,
Which is a stage that I believe not to be necessary but…
It does happen

Another way to express love
Is to ask them for their heart in marriage.
Marriage is love that binds forever and ever.

So while we…
Fumble, stumble, and tumble over what to say…
How do I make perfect this wedding day?

Where words fail… after all of the vows are finally said.
We now see that the words did not fail. By God’s grace,
And the kiss that forever binds those words in our hearts
Is done. (A kiss that is not left up to interpretation, but to love)

Where words fail, there is the smile, the “hello, ” the hug, and the kiss.
All sure signs of love. Actions work when words fail to fall off our lips.
