Who Are They Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Who Are They

YES, who Are They
That steal our power
With mean words 'they'
Would have us believe when
'they' say we are not worthy...
Not smart enough, big enough, strong enough,
tall enough, short enough, slim enough, fat enough!
'They' tell us to get a life somewhere else,
'They' tell us we don't belong,
Wrong color,
Singing the wrong song
About hope and justice...
They say we are misfits!
Who are they with so much power
Stealing away the hours of our worthiness
So we can't rest...
Walk away, I say,
Walk away!
Who are they and
What do 'They' know and
Who are 'they' any how?
Let's find some new friends and
A new reality!
