Who Are You Listening To Poem by Randy McClave

Who Are You Listening To

Do you listen to a preacher preach
Do you listen to scientist's and teacher's teach,
Or do you listen to a politician's speech
Do you listen to mad men who screech.

Are you listening to the people who you respect
With them and their beliefs do you really connect,
In them do you see someone who is perfect
And in them truth and honesty and care do you detect.

Are you listening to those who proclaim worries and fear
Do they have you listening to them in your right ear,
When they speak what do you really hear
Or are you in their headlights, the frozen deer.

God has told us to always guard our plate
Which is our ears and mouth and eyes our gate,
And we should never open it up to lies or hate
If so, we might be damning our own everlasting fate.

So, before you ever say, "I won't! " or "I do! "
Remember this always be very honest and always true,
Because, the Devil will try his very best to trick you
Check, and see who you are really and truly listening to.
