Who Else Is My Brother? Poem by Yussuf Muktar

Who Else Is My Brother?

Ripped apart, divided and ruled-
Our brave emperors turned slaves,
In favour of the deadly arch foe,
That always yearned for our blood.
We remained under ruthless reigns;
Rupturing to the lowest of the low!

We enjoyed little sovereign privileges,
Succeeded by enormous invasions,
Of flying parasites and venomous snakes.
Through my lovely brothers I fell-
Into wanton destruction of nation;
Where divide and rule turned the new order

We explored in a mass suffering,
Throughout a world of survival,
We met many, and learned many;
We fought hard, and gained nothing;
Of the miserly ways in dismay-
Why then scream of our ugly reaps?

We hate, and hurt our heartfelt fellows-
Just like scorching our innermost souls;
We hit, and heat the little hut we shade-
Hungry and homeless we helplessly cry,
For a handout we heinously heap.
O' my blind brother, who else is my brother?
