Who is or is not a poet why do you ask me
Since I am one who does not have a literary degree
It is the literary critics who decide anyway
The writers worthy of note in the literary World of today
I am just one of those who enjoy penning rhyme
Though many would see this as a waste of time
And how would I know who is worthy of literary note
Of who is a writer or of who is a poet
Though many claim to be so true poets and true writers are few
And this is not saying anything that is new
Many aspiring writers never make the literary grade
Though every writer is needed in the wordsmith trade
Who is or is not a writer why do you ask me
Since you are one who does have a literary degree.
