Who Likes Halloween Candy? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Who Likes Halloween Candy?

It is Halloween day; a time of year when begging is welcome
We're ready to hand out gobs of candy… all our favorite choices
Incase there aren't as many trick or treaters as we anticipated
Get ready, I hear the rustling of leaves and children's voices

Costumed boys and girls, led by their clown-face-painted dad
Approach the door, carrying bags and plastic pumpkin pails
Politely saying, 'Thank you, ' as Tootsie Pops and M & Ms tumble
Don't close the door, ' a burly voice said, 'You forgot one detail...'

'Me too! ' accompanied his extended hand holding a sizable sack
His children watched my surprised reaction…just what would I do?
I guess that trick or treating isn't just for the little ones anymore...
A smiling dad the size of a lumberjack can have a sweet tooth too!
