Who Owes Who And Why Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Who Owes Who And Why

Common sense.
Once to use and have it,
Seems so long ago to be a habit...
Before many were qualified,
To rely on credit to deepen debts.

When common sense had been,
Used and depended upon.
Impressions to make and status to have,
Had not been prioritized...
With a wish to want to have that bad.

People then,
Were living within their limits.
And proud to have a job,
To buy food, enjoy themselves...
Done with the ability to pay the rent.

So long ago not too many still remember.
Having respect for others.
Regardless who they were.
Until greed and thieves of reality,
Introduced delusion.
With a taking away truth and honesty.
To then successfully,
Make those who chose to stay...
Earning to live their lives the right way,
Depicted as fools, lazy and losers.

But...
Everywhere these changing days,
There are more lazy losers.
Tricked, deceived and made into fools.
Claiming to have entitlements.
Their debts to create on credit to obtain.
Those they owe want cash not tears.
Or excuses made,
As to why they can not pay their bills!

"I understand,
These are rough and difficult times for you.
However...
Did you just discover that?
Or after you 'maxed out'...
All of your credit cards."

-Oh?
So NOW you want to make this PERSONAL? ? ? -

"YES...I...DO!
YOU ARE THE ONE WHO OWES ME MONEY."

-Sssshhh.
Calm down.
I only asked for your opinion.
What are you trying to do?
Put my business all in the street? -

"Your business has been in the street.
And throughout the neighborhood for years! "
